Sandpaper

The club has purchase a bulk supply of sandpaper and sanding disks and is making them available to members at a wonderful price. The sandpaper is a high quality serrate coated paper, the red kind Paxton's used to sell. It is one of the best papers for sanding on a lathe. 

Sandpaper can only be bought at the monthly meetings.

Elbo Hollowing Tool (January 2008)

The Elbo hollowing tool is clamped to the quill of the tail stock of a wood lathe while the cutting end is supported by the tool rest at a vertical height to put the cutting edge at center of the wood. The articulated end of the tool is restrained in all axis except the horizontal. The tool is free to move around freely and is very easy to control the cutting action. If a laser option is used the wall thickness is easily controlled without guess work. There are several options in cutting tools. With the standard cutting tool it is easy to hollow a vessel through a small opening without a hook tool. If you already have a hook tool with a small diameter it can be used with this tool.

Basic Elbo tool is $249.99. The short 3/4" bored end is for 3/4" tools that you might already own. Adaptors are $20. Many accessories available including the laser attachment seen in the third image.

Larry Elizondo Are you interested in improving your turning skills? Do you know someone who interested in woodturning and would like to take private or semi-private lessons? Would you just like someone to coach you through your turnings? Would you like to have someone help you organize your turning shop? As many may know and have been to my shop, I am blessed with a 26' x 36' workshop well equipped with woodworking and woodturning tools. My shop was designed and equipped to provide all the necessary comforts while turning or woodworking. You can work in a well-lit, dust-free, air-conditioned environment. For woodturning, equipped with some excellent lathes including: Powermatic 3520a, Oneway 1018, and a Jet VS 1014 (mini).

Saturday classes have proven to be the best alternative, however, I can schedule weekday evenings on a limited and flexible basis. T
