Cindy was the club's featured turner for our April Meeting. She gave an all day presentation to 47 members, covering the Finial box, turning Banksia Pods and a triangular box. Cindy came to us from Boulder Co., were she lives and works, more information about Cindy's work can be found on her website www.cindydrozda.com. Cindy began her demonstration by going thru the steps to turn a Finial Box of Cherry and a contrasting wood for the inlay and foot. She provided a set of step-by-step set of instructions to turn the box. As an add feature, she decorates the inside of the box lid with a small stone, gold leaf or some other small surprise when the box is opened.
Cindy turned a couple of Banksia Pods for her second demonstration, making a small ornament and a weed pot. She demonstrated the use of a balloon to fill the pod openings with filler. She provided step-by-step instructions for turning Banksia Pods. She had brought along several examples of items made from the pods, ordainments, a small clock, bottle stopper and lidded boxes.
Cindy's last demonstration was a lidded triangular box, turned on three axes. She demonstrated the layout of the top and bottom radius to find the different turning points. Yet another handout provided information to determine the relationship between the layout points and the points the triangular shape of the top and bottom.

The demonstration and handouts provided a lot of information about one specific size and shape. Cindy pointed out that many other designs are possible using her techniques. She said many times "If we all share, we all grow". written by Mike Mitchell
